"Kleznacht" uses melodies of German Christmas carols, but changes them with new rhythms and metres and by adding scales of "Klezmer" music instead of the original major or minor scales.
The music was originally arranged and recorded for nyckelharpa, double bass and guitar, with various percussion instruments added to some pieces. For the present score, an attempt was made to generalise the parts so that they should also be playable on other instruments. The first voice is thus intended for a higher instrument and the second voice for a lower instrument. If the range of the instruments used differs from the notation, the performers themselves must consider sensible transpositions. For the various transposing instruments, both melody parts are available in C, Bb and Eb transpositions. Some pieces use double stops. For monophonic instruments it is recommended to play the lower notes as short suggestions to the upper notes.
The percussion parts are only suggestions. They can be filled, changed or added to as desired. Using the chord progressions notated in the guitar part, other instruments can be added or the guitar can be replaced by another chord instrument.
The sheet music is available either complete with all transposed parts and score, or each individual part separately. The score is not available for purchase separately.
