The "Prelude I" from the "Well-Tempered Clavier" by J. S. Bach, extended by one bar, supplemented by a romantic song by Charles Gounod. Because of its simplicity, it is not at all easy to play on the double bass. Therefore it is an excellent practice piece for the double bass player. To avoid the pianist suddenly having to play the well-known piece in a different key than he is used to, this edition contains the Prelude in C major. Instead, the double bass part is in B flat major (for solo tuning) and in C major (for orchestral tuning).
Solo range: B-flat - d''
