These 30 etudes by Simandl are certainly part of the "compulsory literature" of every student. But even for the fully trained bassist, these etudes provide the basic material for the practice of his musical existence: musically and rhythmically, they represent exactly the material that one encounters again and again as a double bassist. This revised edition has been supplemented by the editor with various preliminary exercises for each individual etude, in which the rhythmic-thematic material of the etudes is "pre-practised", mostly on the basis of scales.
