Description
In the original, a duo for 2 cellos, the first part of which has been slightly altered for playing together with the double bass, while the second part has been completely tailored to the double bass. The two instruments constantly play the themes to each other, which are for the most part diatonic and can thus be played well by the double bass in the sounding register. Particularly noteworthy here is the second movement, in the middle of which the double bass shines with a longer cantilena that has a romantic, rapturous melting that makes one think this melody was written directly for the double bass.
    - Recorded on the CD "cantus iunctus ad tumultum".
