This is the other, less well-known double bass concerto by Dittersdorf. Nevertheless, it is just as typical of the period, but perhaps not quite as brittle as the E major concerto. This version, transposed to sounding A major, is slightly abridged and, by using the higher registers, highlights more the vocal qualities of the double bass. The material consists of flute 1, flute 2, oboe 1, oboe 2, horn 1, horn 2, 5 x violin 1, 5 x violin 2, 3x viola and 3 x basso.
