Description
Klezmer music for five double basses! The four-movement piece opens with a notated improvisation ("Doina") by the first bass over a chordal framework of the other basses, and then gradually builds up a polyphonic texture in the second movement ("Hora"). This is followed by a folk dance ("Chusidl") and finally, with "Freylach", a fast, high-spirited dance that describes the already advanced hour of the wedding celebration. Duration: approx. 8 - 9 minutes.
