The original was written by Mike Curtis for 4 wind players plus two percussionists. The arranger has reworked the wind parts for four double basses and arranged a separate part for a fifth double bass, in which it is used purely percussively. By omitting the fifth bass, the piece can also be played as a quartet.
After a short introduction, the first tango theme is introduced. An interlude leads to a second melody in 6/4 time, which is then repeated with bluesy accompaniment so that 4/4 and 6/4 overlap. A cadenza-like section follows, leading to the final tango section.
