The time of composition of the "Carneval Scenes" op. 12 is given at the end of the original handwritten score as "3 - 7 August 1911". The concert piece, which lasts about 10 minutes (with cadenza), is subtitled "Versammlung, Begrüßung und Zug der Masken" (Assembly, Greeting and Procession of the Masks), although in the score Findeisen only titles the Allegro con brio part as "Zug der Masken" (Procession of the Masks). The piece begins with a slow introduction, which probably corresponds to the "Assembly". Between this introduction and the Allegro con brio section there is only the entry "Cadenza", which probably corresponds to "Greeting".
The score does not include a cadenza by Findeisen, so the arranger Andreas Wiebecke-Gottstein designed his own from the material of the solo part, letting the greeter (soloist) communicate somewhat with the assemblers (orchestra) at the end of the cadenza, before the procession then takes place in a cheerfully upbeat manner.
