Long unavailable and unjustly almost forgotten, this concerto nevertheless deserves a place alongside the other well-known works by Bottesini and Koussewitzky. It is late Romantic music with relatively large orchestration. Although the first movement is in a minor key, the concerto as a whole has a positive, cheerful mood. In particular, the third movement, entitled with the unusual tempo marking "Funny", bristles with mischievous irony and is guaranteed to put the listener in a good mood.
