The "Romantic Suite" for violin and double bass by the well-known double bass pedagogue and virtuoso consists of 4 character pieces, each of which Findeisen has given its own romantic title: 1. "Am Birkenwald" ("At the birch forest"), 2. "Nächtlicher Marsch der Gnomen" ("Night March of the Gnomes"), 3. "Unterm Haselbusch" ("Under the Hazel Bush") and 4. "Erlauscht" ("Eavesdropped"). In combination with the corresponding tempo indications, one can easily imagine the character traits of the movements. The parts are quite demanding for both instruments. The double bass part is notated in solo tuning (one tone lower).
