Even less is known about the second concerto for double bass and orchestra by Th. A. Findeisen than about the first. Only the piano version is available, which is being republished by PRObass Musikverlag. It is dedicated to Kurt Barth, who was Kapellmeister in Zwickau. The piano part is marked "in one movement". However, it can also be regarded as a multi-movement work whose various movements merge into one another. The piece begins with a majestic Allegro with the addition "fresh and rhapsodic". This leads into an Andante molto in which the solo double bass can show off its vocal qualities. This is followed by an Allegro leggiero, which returns to the majestic opening theme, finally moving into a virtuosic Molto Allegro quasi Presto. This part has the effect of a stretta final movement, at the end of which the majestic opening theme is taken up again brilliantly. The piano score has been re-orchestrated for a small orchestra by Daniel Chiva Sanz. The orchestral material is available on loan (see Double Bass Concertos).
