Description
This piece is subtitled "Am Grabe des Freundes" (At the Grave of a Friend) and thus clearly indicates what the one-movement piece of music is about. In addition, the dedication provides further information about the motives behind the composition: "Dedicated to his friend Robert Schäfer in Chemnitz". It is a funeral dirge on the double bass, demanding for both the soloist and the accompanying pianist.
